Summary: SIGMA7’s ability to quickly develop a secure and hardened mission-critical Operations Facility and Data Center highlights their proficiency in creating highly reliable and efficient infrastructure for financial services clients.
A financial services client with operations and processing centers historically located in one region recognized global security issues and the potential for business continuity impacts. This led to the realignment of their operating parameters and data center model. SIGMA7 led a team to program, develop, design, and deliver their first out of region data and processing center.
The facility consists of a state-of-the-art data processing facility supported by one half of the daily operations office staff. The data center, administrative, and operations areas are sized and fit-out to accommodate an immediate influx of all processing and personnel in the event of the geographically divers sister facility going off-line as this facility also houses the Disaster Recovery (DR) operations and accommodations. The Operations Facility and Data Center were designed, developed, and delivered in a remarkably short period of 14 months, significant given the complexity of mission critical projects projects. The project and it's success, a testament to SIGMA7’s expertise in rapidly delivering secure and robust mission-critical facilities.
The mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems in this highly reliable facility are designed to 2N redundancy, concurrently maintainable and fault tolerant, with no single points of failure. A SCADA monitoring and control system allows for easy intuitive control and monitoring of the entire electrical infrastructure system.
Mechanical cooling infrastructure designed with the use of dry coolers at this facility reflective of the local low electric utility rates as well as the costs, restrictions, and environmental concerns with water usage and sewage discharge. The mechanical infrastructure is also supported by a robust BMS system.
Site design includes a combination of manmade and natural features including rated perimeter security fencing, landscape berms and stone retaining walls creating a hardened barrier ring around the site and building. The secure site has a single active gated entry and exit point with 24x7x365 manned security booth.

Metal awning protects visitors from the elements at the entry and shades the large windows at the lobby minimizing solar gain.
Exterior and landscape design includes natural security features (berms and stone walls) and native plantings within the protected gated perimeter of the facility.
Secure entry lobby includes reception and waiting area as well as visitor amenities (bathrooms and a meeting rooms) within the semi-public space. All visitors are screened by security prior to entering via secure revolving door or mantrap. Biometric security devices are in use in addition to card key and personal pin for employees.
Main corridor features historic artifacts, artwork, and mementos from this organization's long history. Meeting and conference rooms overlook the gallery space.
Open office workspace with informal meeting and teaming area. Enclosed offices and meeting rooms were designed and constructed perpendicular to the exterior wall to maximize the sharing of natural light.
Modernized traditional conference room for board and other large team meetings includes multi-media audio/visual capabilities along with video conferencing and a noise cancelling voice lift system.
Large flex-use room with integrated multi-media and audio/visual technology. This reconfigurable space includes an acoustic folding partition enabling use for traditional conference/meetings, large open table seating, individual table seating, classroom, and lecture set-ups.

Mission critical operations center monitor's the entire organizations network as well as potential worldwide impacts. This facility and the ops center also functions as a disaster recovery site. OPS also has a panoramic view into the concurrently maintainable data center.
Break room features plenty of natural light and a secure and protected outdoor seating area. The well-stocked pantry and flexible seating are available for dining and informal meetings around the clock at this 7x24x365 facility.
